West Quoddy, Lubec, Maine (1808)

West Quoddy Lighthouse is located in Lubec Maine and is very close to the Portland Head Lighthouse. West Quoddy is probably the second most photographed lighthouse in the world. Its distinctive red and white striped tower can be found on just about every lighthouse calendar ever made. The first lighthouse on the site was built in 1808 and was in service for approximately 50 years. In 1858 it was decided that the original lighthouse was to be replaced with the lighthouse you see today.
